Jesse Roper is a Blues/Americana artist with a penchant for writing modern indie infused blues music and delivering bombastic live performances buoyed by his virtuosic guitar playing. His innate and impressive musical talent has served him well, giving him the fexibility to play with soul icon Booker T. Jones, rock veteran Colin James, blues belter Beth Hart, and Canadian legend Burton Cummings. The stage is where Roper shines. It has been his home since overcoming crippling stage fright during his early twenties. Fear is a part of Roper’s past that barely seems real today

Following this "ordinary" woman's journey through the tallest peaks in the world, the GB Paralympic squad, and cancer, inspires us to go on our own journey.

The Council for Holocaust Awareness of Idaho (CHAI) is honored to announce the upcoming visit of Holocaust Survivor Pete Metzelaar to Boise and the Sun Valley area in early December. Pete will be giving two free public talks: the first on Tuesday evening, December 2nd, at the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Boise and the second on Wednesday evening, December 3rd, at the Liberty Theater in Hailey, Idaho. Probably the oddest, most off-the-wall cult film ever made, this kinky rock'n'roll science fiction horror satire is everybody's favourite midnight show. A young couple stumbles into a castle inhabited by weirdos from the planet Transylvania including Dr. Frank N. Furter (Tim Curry) a transvestite Frankenstein in rhinestone heels. A marvelous musical spoof which urges, "Give yourself over to absolute pleasure."

A scientist (Vincent Price) builds an animated human being -- the gentle Edward (Johnny Depp). The scientist dies before he can finish assembling Edward, though, leaving the young man with a freakish appearance accentuated by the scissor blades he has instead of hands. Loving suburban saleswoman Peg (Dianne Wiest) discovers Edward and takes him home, where he falls for Peg's teen daughter (Winona Ryder). However, despite his kindness and artistic talent, Edward's hands make him an outcast.

Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency teams up with Boise Contemporary Theater and Boise State University to bring you a reading of Tony Award Winner and two-time Pulitzer Finalist Stephen Karam's play that put him on the map as a major voice in the American theatre.

The evening begins with a conversation between 25/26 Resident Playwright Stephen Karam and Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency Artistic Director John Baker, followed by a reading of SPEECH & DEBATE, directed by Boise Contemporary Theater's Artistic Director Benjamin Burdick and featuring featuring Theatre Arts majors, alumni & faculty from Boise State University.

RunNation is an original documentary film festival that was founded by a group of local runners in Sydney eight years ago.  Since its creation, RunNation has grown from a local festival to a world tour that has screened around the globe. The festival is an original, inspiring event attended by running celebrities, thousands of runners and non-runners around many parts of the world.

Secuestrado doesn’t play music so much as unleash it. Their songs hit like a stolen kiss, a bottle smashed against a bar, a desert wind that leaves you changed. It’s folk, it’s rock, it’s Latin rhythms tangled in raw Americana—sweaty, pulsing, alive.

When they arrive at college, socially inept freshmen Larry (Thomas Hulce) and Kent (Stephen Furst) attempt to pledge the snooty Omega Theta Pi House, but are summarily rejected. Lowering their standards, they try at the notoriously rowdy Delta Tau Chi House, and get in. The trouble is, the college dean (John Vernon) has it in for the Deltas. He has put them on "Double Secret Probation" and secretly assigned Omega's president (James Daughton) the task of having their charter revoked.

For the making of his fourth album If I Were a Butterfly, Rayland Baxter holed up for over a year at a former rubber-band factory turned studio in the Kentucky countryside—a seemingly humble environment that proved to be something of a wonderland. “I spent that year living in a barn with the squirrels and the birds, on my own most of the time, and I discovered so much about music and how to create it,” says the Tennessee-bred singer/songwriter. “Instead of going into a studio with a producer for two weeks, I just waited for the record to build itself. I’d get up and go outside, see a butterfly and connect that with some impulsive thought I’d had three months ago, and suddenly a song I’d been working on would make sense. That’s how the whole album came to be.”

Langhorne Slim, a beloved and acclaimed American singer, songwriter and performer. Over the last 2 decades he has merged a stew of styles to create a sound that is unique, powerful and raw. From campfires to dive bars, and theatres to arenas, Slim brings an intimacy and edge through his innate ability to connect with his audiences. Though he’s been at this for the better part of his days, it somehow feels like he’s just getting started.
